Disaster Action Team (DAT)

Every day people are forced from their homes due to fires, storms and other disasters. Single- and multi-family fires account for 90% of disaster responses. You can be part of a team that helps and responds to over 60,000 emergencies every year. From offering a caring and compassionate ear, to meeting the disaster-caused needs of individuals and households, such as lodging and clothing, and connecting them with long term recovery services, our volunteers ensure that families don’t have to face tough times alone.

Disaster Health Services Team

During large disasters, you can use your professional skills as a licensed healthcare provider to deliver hands-on care and education to shelter residents. Free online training will be provided and 5.25 nursing contact hours are offered. If the need arises, volunteers are asked to commit to multiple local shifts of 4-12 hours each. For those able to travel outside of their local area, a commitment of at least 10-14 consecutive days, working 8- or 12-hour shifts is required. Travel, lodging and meals are provided for deployed workers. Qualified licenses include RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, Paramedic, MD, DO, PA, NP, APRN. Only RNs have full scope of practice. In some areas we need qualified Mental Health professionals. Please speak with your Volunteer Services Recruitment Representative if a mental health position interests you.
