ABOUT US

Founded in 2022, Felix & Margaret (F&M) is a non-profit, non-governmental entity providing relief efforts and health services for those lacking access to affordable, high-quality preventive health care in Nigeria.

Named after Felix and Margaret Olusa (parents of the foundation’s Founder and President, Sola Daves Olusa) who served the villages in Nigeria as clergy from the 1970’s until 2010, F&M aims to continue the legacy of the couple’s altruism by bringing comfort and aid to those who are in need.

“I remember my parents gathering rice, grains and medicines into size-able bags for easy distribution, going from village to village, visiting people in need throughout Nigeria. I recall the look of joy and gratitude on those people’s faces when they received food and medicine from my parents,” says Sola. “It is something I cannot easily describe in words. Healthcare, whether a clinic or hospital, is non-existent in these rural areas and any kind of help that these less fortunate people could receive from my parents was a true God send. Despite my father having a good college education from the best university in Nigeria (University of Ibadan), he chose to do the hard work of an evangelist, as he said it made him fulfilled and successful – which is one of the most important purposes of life.”

F&M’s mission is accomplished primarily using a team of dedicated volunteers, backed by a small but committed staff. Its volunteers are made up of people from all walks of life, but the one common thread they share is a commitment to their community and to humanity. They log countless hours studying, training, fundraising, and responding to disasters in order to offer the kind of solace that Felix and Margaret Olusa gave to Nigerians for over 35 years.

As high blood pressure and diabetes is one of the leading causes of death in Nigeria, it is Sola’s wish that providing preventive healthcare and emphasizing the importance of medical testing will also be a focus. Sola’s mother Margaret suffered from untreated diabetes that also contributed to her death which, if she had received the correct medical attention, could have been prevented. Sola wishes to change this approach to health within Nigeria by starting from the inside out.

We built a 100 bed, low-cost hospital and community center on land originally owned by the Olusa’s. “We are employing a few dedicated staff and building teams of volunteer workers to carry on my father’s legacy,” says Sola. “We are also setting up smaller hubs in the area which will function as food pantries for the less fortunate, much like the ones my parents created.”

“Government services are almost nonexistent in the rural areas of my home country and whenever a crisis or disaster hits, people are left to fend for themselves. Because of this, I hope to harness the power of volunteers and be a force for good in filling in the gaps and helping in whatever way I can.”
